Prince Albert of Monaco’s New Years Speech – English Translation (2025)

My dear compatriots, dear residents, dear friends.

As the world prepares to close the chapter on 2025 and open a new one in 2026, I would like to extend to each and every one of you my warmest wishes and for good health, success and happiness.

I also wish for our entire community to continue to grow in the spirt of serenity and unity. The year now drawing to a close has been a fine and rewarding one for the Principality of Monaco. We have achieved success of which we can be proud. These successes have been political and diplomatic, with visits from foreign Heads of State and we hosted the Blue Economy and Finance Forum last June, a decisive step in the implementation of a new development model that respects our seas and oceans.

Our successes have also been economic. Public finance remains sound, businesses are thriving, and Monaco’s attractiveness continues to grow, as reflected in the remarkable results recorded once again this year.

There have been sporting successes, with exceptional performances by many Monégasque athletes, who have brought distinction to our country across the world: in tennis, sailing, equestrian sports, swimming, Formula One, and many other disciplines.

Yet the most important successes, those I wish to highlight this evening, have been human in nature. Once again this year, our community has demonstrated its strength and unity, and its ability to rise to major challenges. We came together at key moments of collective cohesion, such as last July, when we marked the 20th anniversary of my reign. And we continue to move forward together towards shared goals, grounded in progress and the common good.

Our values, our unity, and our model have once again demonstrated their strength, our collective strength. It is my hope that 2026 will in turn provide an opportunity to further promote and strengthen this model.

This is the mission I will continue to pursue, in Monaco and beyond our borders, for the benefit of our Principality and for each and everyone of you.

My dear compatriots, dear residents, dear friends, as I look ahead to 2026, my thoughts are especially with those among us who are experiencing hardship, those who suffer in body or in spirit. To them I wish to express my affection, that of Princess Charlene and of my family, and to assure them of our full support.

United in times of success, we also know how to remain united during more difficult moments. Together we will make 2026 a great and fulfilling year for Monaco and for each of us.
