Marius Borg Høiby – Timeline of Legal Issues

Marius Borg Høiby is the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, from a previous relationship. He has been charged with several serious crimes against multiple victims.  A trial with 38 charges against Marius is currently taking place in Oslo, Norway. Proceedings are ongoing.

2026

February

  • Trial is scheduled to take place from February 3rd – March 30th at Oslo District Court. 
  • Sunday 1st
    • Arrested on 4 new charges: assault, threats with a knife and violation of a restraining order.
      • These charges were not included in the 2026 Criminal Trial.
  • Monday 2nd
    • Taken to hospital for an undisclosed issue. Marius was visited by Crown Prince Haakon (step-father), Crown Princess Mette-Marit (mother) and Princess Ingrid Alexandra (half-sister).
  • Tuesday 3rd
    • Trial begins at Oslo District Court.
    • Full list of 38 charges
    • Marius pled:
      • Guilty – 8 counts
      • Partial Guilty – 5 counts
      • Not Guilty – 15 counts

January

  • Six new charges were added to the case by the Norwegian Public Prosecutor’s Office bringing the count up to 38 charges.
    • 1 charge involves Drug trafficking marijuana
    • 2 charges – of Breaking restraining order
    • 3 charges of violation of traffic legislation.
  • Statement issued by Crown Prince Haakon on forthcoming Trial.

2025

November

  • Marius Borgs Høiby is trying to have the book banned in Norway. While he has previous confirmed he used and abused cocaine….he alleges he was not involved in any drug gangs. And did not sell drugs.
    • Marius’s lawyers shared a 15-minute audio recording with the court in an attempt to prove he did not/the police did not have evidence of him selling drugs.
    • The recording is from 2023 and is of Marius being questioned by the police about using cocaine and the possibility of him selling it….. But according to Marius’s lawyers clearly shows the police had not seen him selling cocaine.

October

  • The biography “Hvite striper, sorte får” (White stripes, black sheep) about Marius was released. The book alleges Marius is connected to some of Europe’s most notorious drug gangs. And details his cocaine problem (White stripes= lines of cocaine).
    • Norway Palace said, “The book contains a number of untruths, undocumented claims and insinuations, partly from anonymous sources”

August

  • Oslo State Prosecutor announces they are bringing 32 charges against Marius. These charges are based on the Oslo Police’s June 2025 findings.
    • The charges include cases of:
      • 1x rape with intercourse.
      • 3x rape without intercourse.
      • plus other charges that include Abuse in close relationships, several acts of violence, making death threats, assaulting a public official and violating the Road Traffic Act. 
    • In total, the case has a maximum prison time of 10 years if convicted on all charges. 
  • Høiby denies all charges, with the exception of a violent incident against his ex-girlfriend in Frogner in August last year.
    • The rapes allegedly took place between 2018 and August 2024. 
  • The Royal Palace has stated:
    • It is up to the courts to hear this case and reach a decision. We have nothing to add beyond this.
  • Oslo Court announces trial scheduled to take place from February 3rd – March 13th. 

June

  • Oslo Police bring formal charges against Marius Borg Høiby after completing their investigation.
  • The case is now passed over to the Oslo State Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
    • The police have recommended that some charges against Marius be prosecuted and some be dropped for efficiency reasons.
  • 23 Charges (This is the formal list of charges, which includes the charges from earlier in 2024)
    • 1x case of rape with intercourse
    • 2x rape without intercourse
    • 4x sexually offensive behavior
    • 1x abuse in close relationships
    • 2x bodily harm
    • 1x damage
    • 1x threats
    • 5x violations of restraining order
    • 1x harassment of a police officer
    • 5x road traffic offenses
  • Several other cases being investigated were dismissed, mainly due to the statute of limitations or lack of evidence. 

March

  • A restraining order issued against Marius is extended. 

2024

November

  • Marius reportedly engaged in reckless behavior by screaming at his ex-girlfriend and dragging her out of the car.
  • Marius allegedly drove without a valid license on two occasions.
  • Marius Borg Høiby allegedly committed rape by sexual assaulting an incapacitated person. This incident is the last of four alleged rapes identified by prosecutors and included in the 2026 criminal trial.
    • Marius has also been accused of Sexually offensive filming/photography during this incident.
  • Marius was arrested on suspicion of rape. He was held at Hamar Prison for one week. 

October

  • Marius gives up his driver’s license and license to carry a weapon on the recommendation of his doctor. 

September

  • A restraining order was issued against Marius by one of his victims. 
  • He repeatedly violated it and was arrested on September 13 at a cabin in Gausdal. Charges were expanded to include ill-treatment of former partners, threats, and violation of court orders.

August

  • Police responded to a violent incident at an Oslo apartment where Marius allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend while under the influence of alcohol and cocaine. 
  • Marius was arrested and charged with assault, vandalism, and threats. He was released the same day.
  • Marius speaks to the press, admitting he was high on cocaine and alcohol at the time. And that he is entering rehab for substance abuse.

June

  • Marius allegedly committed physical abuse against his girlfriend and engaged in reckless behavior.

March

  • Marius Borg Høiby allegedly committed rape by sexual assaulting an incapacitated person. This incident is the 3rd of four alleged rapes identified by prosecutors and included in the 2026 criminal trial.
    • Marius has also been accused of Sexually offensive filming/photography during this incident.
  • Marius allegedly committed reckless behavior.

February

  • Marius allegedly backed his girlfriend’s computer.

2023

November & December

  • Marius allegedly engaged in various crimes against his girlfriend including 3 counts of sexually offensive filming/photography

October

  • Marius Borg Høiby allegedly committed rape with sexual intercourse while a woman was unconscious. This incident is the 2nd of four alleged rapes identified by prosecutors and included in the 2026 criminal trial.
    • Marius has also been accused of Sexually offensive filming/photography during this incident.
  • Marius allegedly engaged in reckless driving by speeding on a narrow road on the way to Skaugum, The Crown Prince Couple’s residence. This posed a danger to guards on the scene. Marius filmed this incident.
    • Marius pled partially guilty to this charge.

August

  • Marius skips his mother, Princess Mette-Marit’s 50th Birthday celebrations due to “illness.” He was then photographed at a nearby nightclub. 

March-May

  • Marius allegedly engaged in 2 counts of reckless driving.
    • Marius pled guilty to these counts during 2026 criminal trial

2022

Summer of 2022-Fall 2023

  • Marius allegedly abused his then-roommate Nora Haukland through repeated violence, threatening behavior and other abuses.
    • Marius was charged with “Abuse in Close Relationships”, related to this, as part of 2026 Criminal Trial.

June

  • Marius attended Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s 18th Birthday Celebration at the Oslo Royal Family. 
  • This was the last time he publicly attended a formal event at the palace. 

2021


2020

July

  • Marius allegedly received at least 3.5 kg of marijuana, which he transported to Tønsberg and handed over to one person.
    • Marius pled guilty to an aggravated drug trafficking charge, related to this incident, during 2026 criminal trial

2019


2018

December

  • Marius Borg Høiby allegedly committed rape by sexual assaulting an incapacitated person. The incident took place during a party at Skaugum, the official residence of the Crown Prince Couple.
    • This incident is the first of four alleged rapes identified by prosecutors and included in the 2026 criminal trial.

October

  • Marius’s mother, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. 

2017

??

  • Marius drops out of Santa Monica College

July

  • Marius is arrested for cocaine at the Palmesus music festival. 
  • He was fined 4,000 kroner. 

January

  • Marius turns 20.
    • Crown Princess Mette-Marit releases an Open Letter.
    • Palace announces:
      • Official Statements (in Norwegian)
      • Marius will not take on any official duties and will live a private life.
      • He would only attending Royal events that family members would naturally attend.
      • He will begin studying Economics and Administration in California, USA.
      • His Bio is removed from Royal Website.
