Great Ormond Street Hospital is a children’s hospitals in London. It was the first hospital in the UK to be dedicated to treating children. The hospital received it’s name from the street it was located on, Great Ormond Street.

There are three separate entities:

• The Great Ormond Street Hospital
  • A specialist children’s hospital in London.
• Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust
  • The legal and administrative organization that runs the hospital. The trust was formed in 2012.
• The Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity
  • The independent charity that raises funds for the trust. Grants are only made to the Trust, not other organizations or individuals.

Peter Pan

In April 1929, author J. M. Barrie gave the copyright to his work, Peter Pan, to the hospital. This allowed the hospital to collect royalties and other payments for the work. A statue of Peter Pan was installed outside of the hospital.
