These definitions are based on how the terms are used in today’s monarchies, especially in Europe. Some of these terms have slightly different meanings in historical, or non-royal contexts or in monarchies outside to Europe.

Infante/a
A Spanish title/rank that is used to denote a child of the monarch (or former monarch). It is also used by grandchildren down the male-line.
In terms of rank, a Infante/a holds the same position as other Prince/ss in Europe. However, in Spain, they only use the term “Príncipe/Princesa” (Spanish for Prince/ss) for the heir to the throne and their spouse.
When translating Infante/a into English we will see the palace use both Infante/a or Prince/ss. Either are acceptable translations.

Jubilee

A milestone anniversary in a Monarch’s reign. Usually celebrated on these anniversaries:
- Silver Jubilee – 25th anniversary
- Ruby Jubilee – 40th anniversary*
- Golden Jubilee – 50th anniversary
- Diamond Jubilee – 60th anniversary
- Sapphire Jubilee – 65th anniversary*
- Platinum Jubilee – 70th anniversary
*Celebrated in some counties, and are not usually big celebrations

Knight
Knight is a rank of nobility, below the peerage. It is not a hereditary title. (The female version is a Dame.)
In modern times, one is usually made a knight by being admitted into one of the Orders of Chivalry.
